What to Know
Are We a Good Fit?
Finding the right therapist is about more than identifying someone with the right expertise. It’s also important to find an approach that makes sense to you. The questions below offer a window into how I think about therapy and the decisions we make together. If you’d like to explore whether we’d be a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation.
-
I work with children, teens, and adults experiencing anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCD), depression, perfectionism, ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence, difficulties managing emotions, and challenges in relationships. My work also includes supporting people through stressful experiences, life transitions, and difficulties with sleep.
Not everyone comes to therapy with a diagnosis or a clearly defined problem. Sometimes the starting point is simply a sense that something isn’t working as you’d like. Together, we’ll work to understand what’s happening and determine how therapy might help.
-
The person experiencing a difficulty isn’t always the person who needs to attend therapy. Especially when working with children, meaningful change may come through helping parents better understand their child’s experiences and respond differently at home.
Sometimes individual sessions are helpful; other times, parent consultation is the better starting point or the primary focus of treatment. We’ll think together about who should participate, why, and how that might change over time.
-
Some children and teens recognize that something is bothering them and want help. Others are brought to therapy because an adult is concerned, even though they may not see a problem themselves.
I don’t assume that a young person will find therapy useful simply because an adult recommends it. Instead, I take time to understand their perspective, build trust, and explore what might make participating worthwhile to them. Sometimes that process leads to individual therapy; other times, working with parents is the more productive path.
-
I don’t assume therapy needs to continue indefinitely. We’ll identify goals, pay attention to progress, and regularly consider what’s helping and what might need to change.
Some clients benefit from a focused period of treatment, while others need more time or occasional follow-up support. We’ll make decisions about the pace and duration together, with the goal of helping you make meaningful changes that last beyond our sessions.
Practical Information
A few practical details to help you understand what to expect and plan for getting started.
-
My fee for an initial evaluation is $395, and ongoing 45-minute sessions are $275.
I have a limited number of reduced-fee openings and welcome a conversation about financial considerations if cost is a concern.
-
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network mental health benefits, although coverage varies. I encourage you to check with your insurer about your benefits and any deductible before beginning treatment.

Yes. I offer both in-person and virtual appointments. Telehealth is available to clients located in Washington, DC, Maryland, and participating PSYPACT states.
The decision about meeting in person or virtually is individualized and collaborative, taking into account each client’s needs and circumstances. For children and teens, I generally begin with in-person sessions and consider telehealth when it is clinically appropriate.
-
I see clients Monday through Thursday, with appointments primarily during daytime hours and limited late-afternoon availability.
My schedule varies as clients begin and complete treatment. During our initial phone consultation, we can discuss current openings and whether there’s a time that works for you.
