Meet
Dr. Abigail Romirowsky
I was raised in Providence, Rhode Island, by a mother who worked as a clinical social worker and a father who worked as a pediatrician. From an early age, I was drawn both to the scientific method and to the power of understanding people’s individual stories. My graduate studies at the University of Maryland deepened my respect for rigorous, evolving research, which continues to guide my approach to therapy.
Science is where I begin, but it is not enough on its own. Meaningful therapy depends on creating a safe, supportive environment where curiosity can grow and change feels less intimidating. Like the people I work with, I know the pull to present as though everything is fine while struggling privately. One of the most important lessons of my career has been that I can best help my clients by bringing not only expertise, but honesty and humility. I, too, am a work in progress—as a psychologist, a parent and a person.
If you’re considering therapy for yourself or someone in your family, I’d welcome the opportunity to talk about what might be helpful.
